Something magical is coming to Vans. The legendary shoe company recently teased a collaboration with the massively successful and beloved Harry Potter franchise. The brand consisted of seven novels and eight blockbuster films over the course of a decade and has made billions in merchandising since.
Vans is known for having amazing collaborations with musicians, television shows, movies, Disney and all types of pop culture, so this magical collaboration isn’t too much of a surprise. The Vans website has been revamped to include a pop-up message to fans about the new line which says, “Vans and Harry Potter collaborated to conjure up a magical collection of footwear, apparel, and accessories for witches, wizards, and Muggles™ alike.”
Fans are encouraged to sign up for an email list to be notified of when the new line of shoes and apparel is available for the public to buy. The background of the website also includes the colors of the four main houses in the series with their house sigil in the center: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Moving your cursor over the colors creates a ripple effect to see the sigils move.
It’s not entirely clear when the new collaboration will be available to the public, so it’s guaranteed to be massive just based on the marketing. The popular Vans slip-on shoes with the various house colors from the series, as well as clothes based on things like Quidditch, characters like Dobby, and much more is expected.
Massive collaborations like this tend to fall on major anniversaries as a way to commemorate big pop culture events making their mark on society. It’s unclear if that’s the exact case here for this specific collaboration, or if there has been some sort of licensing agreement between Vans and the Harry Potter franchise rights.
