HBO Max Streaming Service to Release on May 27th

With numerous streaming services stepping up their game amid pandemic, WarnerMedia is wasting no time trying to get their massive collective of HBO Max up and running as soon as possible. The service is sure to be as massive a competitor for Disney+. Consider how Disney+ incorporates the studios of Fox, Marvel, LucasFilm, and National Geographic. Compare this to Warner Bros massive blanket of media contents from the likes of HBO, New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Cartoon Network, and so much more. This isn’t even counting the original content that will be exclusive to HBO Max.

The service is currently set for an official release date of May 27th. The price will be $14.99 which is a bit steeper than most streaming services but they will also be offering far more content considering the range of acquired titles. Where else will you be able to watch Teen Titans Go and Game of Thrones on the same app?

Of the original content, HBO Max will run the gambit of new programming for viewers young and old. These programs will include the romantic comedy Love Life starring Anna Kendrick, the documentary On the Record, the underground ballroom dance competition Legendary, crafting show Craftopia, a new Looney Tunes Cartoons from Warner Bros. Animation, and Sesame Workshop’s The Not Too Late Show with Elmo. And there are plenty more original series coming soon which include revisions of Saved By The Bell and Grease.

There are a number of questions we’re still waiting to have answered about this platform, such as what will happen to the likes of HBO Now and DC Universe streaming services if they’re all under Warner Bros. Will the interface be friendly enough on all streaming devices? What original films will be coming to the service? And, perhaps most intriguing, how many setback films will favor the service as opposed to a theatrical release? We’ll just have to wait and see how HBO Max plays out.
